NEW YORK — October 5, 2020 — Berkery Noyes, an independent mid-market investment bank, today released its third quarter 2020 mergers and acquisitions trend report for the Online and Mobile Industry. The report analyzes M&A activity during the three-month period and compares it with data for the previous six quarters.

Total volume improved 23 percent over the past quarter. Overall value increased from $23.1 billion to $62.9 billion during this timeframe. Also of note, five of the industry’s top ten largest deals year-to-date occurred in the third quarter.

Upon examination of selected areas covered in the report, the number of deals in the Communications segment rose 20 percent on a quarterly basis. As for the E-Marketing & Search segment, volume gained eight percent.

M&A activity in the E-Commerce segment increased four percent. Notable E-Commerce deals in the third quarter included Adevinta’s announced acquisition of eBay Classifieds Group for $9.2 billion; and Uber’s acquisition of Postmates, a food and goods delivery service, for $2.7 billion.
